With a storied history that has been influential in the growth of the packaging industry overall and flexible packaging in particular, Kendall Packaging’s success is the result of the hundreds of dedicated individuals who over the years have helped make the company an industry leader.
With its founding by Lowell Kendall in Milwaukee, WI, in 1948, the company started as a contact packager and fabricator of paper products such as nut cups, doilies, place mats, and similar items. With advancements in flexible printing technology in 1970, the company begin to print on polyethylene. The same year, Eric G. Erickson acquired the company.
In 1987, Kendall purchased a new 40,000-square-foot production facility in Pittsburg, KS, installing state-of-the-art printing, lamination, and slitting/rewinding equipment. With a need to expand its production capabilities, Kendall Packaging moved its Milwaukee location in 1992 to a larger facility in Jefferson, WI.
Over the next two decades, Kendall Packaging continued to enhance its offering through the addition of new production equipment, including new laminators, slitters, and printing presses. Further growth followed in the 2010s, with a 56,000-square-foot expansion at the Jefferson facility completed in 2014 that increased production capabilities and doubled storage capacity. The new building also included skylights to reduce energy consumption and an employee fitness room. In 2017, the company completed a 59,000-square-foot addition at its Pittsburg facility, adding new equipment throughout the building to have it look and operate nearly identical as the Jefferson facility.
Under the direction of Eric G. Erickson, III, Kendall Packaging has expanded its service offerings through the type of flexible packaging it provides, allowing the company to serve a variety of industries. The company has also been a leader in developing and implementing sustainable packaging solutions.
