Sustainable Packaging Solutions | Kendall Packaging Corporation

Sustainable Solutions

We take seriously our obligation to protect the environment. To meet increasing demands for sustainable packaging, we are committed to streamlining the way we do business by looking for better ways to develop, purchase, and manufacture our products.

Kendall utilizes the latest in polymer and processing technologies to deliver well-vetted solutions across a variety of markets to brand owners and consumers alike. To drive sustainability practices, we are taking steps in product design and process improvement including:

  • Reduce: Down-gauging structures without compromising performance and shelf life
  • Reuse: Offering Post-Consumer Recycled Resin (PCR) packaging solutions for applications that cannot be readily converted to all-PE
  • Recycle: Re-engineering structures with a sustainability first mindset
FULLY RECYCLABLE BARRIER & NON-BARRIER LAMINATION FILMS

Kendall offers surface print and sealant film solutions for customers looking to replace traditional PET / PE lamination. This includes 100% recyclable PE films and 100% recyclable multi-layer barrier films for lamination and stand-up pouches.

MULTI-LAYERED FILMS WITH POST-CONSUMER RECYCLED CONTENT

For customers looking to incorporate recycled content, Kendall offers solutions for multi-layered films with PCR content (ranging from 20%-40% PCR). This includes 100% recycled multi-layer barrier films for laminations and stand-up pouches. Recently, FDA compliant HDPE resins have become available. Current market uses for PCR packaging include bakery, personal care, and frozen foods.

Additional process improvement steps we are taking to become more environmentally conscious:

  • Incorporating new and proven technologies that can reduce our reliance on oil-based products.
  • Significantly reducing emissions of greenhouse gases through the addition of new equipment and the sourcing of raw materials.
  • Growth in solventless adhesives to reduce the energy and minimize the solvents that are required to create products.
  • Developing new recycling programs within our production facilities.
  • Conducting research for new ways to meet requirements with a focus on sustainability and the environment.
