1. Reduce

RIGID TO FLEXIBLE

Pros

  • Lower freight costs
  • More environmentally friendly

Cons:

  • Potential equipment change required
  • Capital intensive

SOURCE REDUCTION

Pros:

  • Less waste to landfill
  • More affordable on a per impression price

Cons:

  • Structure is not recyclable

2. Reuse

PCR FILM

Pros:

  • Made from recycled plastics
  • Extending the life-cycle of plastics
  • Affordable

Cons:

  • Yellowish tint (not ideal for clear windows)
  • Small bubbles

3. Recycle

RECYCLE-READY

  • Slower production run speeds

COMPOSTABLE

  • Films break down with heat, water and oxygen
  • Shorter breakdown than biodegradable

  • Industrial compost facility disposal only (12 in the United States)
  • Expensive
  • Low melting point

BIODEGRADABLE

Pros:

  • Breaks down naturally over time

Cons:

  • Takes decades to break down
